Bristlecone Pine Forest
The ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest is in the White Mountains in eastern Inyo County, California, south of Bishop. The oldest trees in the world grow between the 10,000 and 11,000 foot elevation. The oldest Bristlecone Pine is named The Methuselah Tree, and is 4843 years old as of 2012, which is the oldest known living tree. It is located in the Schulman Grove, near the Visitor Center. The severe weather conditions that these trees endure produce twisted formations that will stimulate the imagination.
These unqiue images of the Patriarch Grove (well past the Visitor Center) were taken on two visits. Both visits were with classes taught by George Lepp ( http://www.georgelepp.com).
